AICHE Student Chapter Activities (AY 2021-22)
01. Orientation Program
AICHE Students Chapter, Department of Chemical Engineering, AISSMS College of Engineering, Pune organized an Orientation program for Academic year 2021-2022. The orientation program was conducted between 27-28 August 2021. Various topics for the webinars were Role of Chemical Engineers, Bioethanol technology and opportunities, Soft skills, Chemical engineering career pathways, Branding yourselves, Personal Development and skills required for the Corporate world.
All the speakers for the respective sessions were expetrts in their fields with a t of experience.

02. Webinar on Memory Enhancement
The AIChE Student Chapter, Department of Chemical Engineering, AISSMS COE Pune, organised a webinar on “ Memory Enhancement” on March 02, 2022, where a great professional personality with a vast experience Mr. Bhuvan Dhanesha was invited as a resource person. The webinar was started sharp at 11:30 am which lasted till 1:05 pm and about 47 participants attended the webinar.
The starting of the webinar was the introduction of the resource speaker Mr. Bhuvan Dhanesha. First of all, sir started with the short introduction about memory enhancement. he covered all the relevant information related to topic such as: how to study, He explained the method of study as to how the study done can be taken into account. Also He interacted with the students about the problems everyone faced while studying.

03. Seminar on Introduction to Chemical Plant Operations
The AIChE Student Chapter, Department of Chemical Engineering, AISSMS COE Pune, organised a webinar on “ Introduction to Chemical Plant Operations” on 4th March 2022 , where a great professional personality with a vast knowledge and experience Mr. Jitendra Nivargi , Mr. Pratik Dikshit & Mr. Sandesh Varude was invited as a resource person, the webinar was organised by Faculty Coordinator Prof. P. M. Warke. The seminar was started sharp at 1:00 pm which lasted till 2:30 pm and about about 45 participants attended the webinar. Mr. Nevargee started with the short introduction about chemical plant operations. He covered all the relevant information related to topic such as: what are Plant operations , study of P&ID and SOPs of these operations. Further Mr. Pratik introduced to a course on Chemical Plant Operation which they will be offering to aspiring chemical engineers. Mr. Sandesh shared the stage and further gave us a brief insight about the courses they are offering.

04. K-12 Outreach Programme
AIChE Student Chapter of AISSMS College of Engineering, Pune in collaboration with RGIPT organized a session on “Gravity Falls” under the K-12 Outreach Programme on 31st October 2021. The webinar mainly focused on students of 9th to 11th grade to educate the students and clear the Concept of Gravitation and buoyancy with help of practical knowledge and experience. The event ended with a fruitful Q/A session. More than 100 participants from different colleges attended the event. After the event, a quiz was conducted for students to refresh their knowledge of STEM education.

05. K-12 outreach program
AIChE Student Chapter of AISSMS College of Engineering, Pune organized a session on “Capillarity” under the K-12 Outreach Programme on 10th October 2021.The webinar mainly focused on students of 7th to 10th grade to educate the students and clear the Concept of Capillarity and capillary action with help of practical knowledge and experience. The event ended with a fruitful Q/A session and some fun game sessions. More than 100 participants from NGO schools attended the event. After the event, a quiz was conducted for students to refresh their knowledge of STEM education.

06. Industry Visit
Industry visit to waste water treatment plant, Nigadi, Pune was undertaken on May 17, 2022. AIChE Student Chapter organised this visit for SE Chemical Engineering students. Students reported to the WTP at 9.00 AM as planned and was received by Mrs Manisha Hingane, the In-charge of training and operation of the Plant. Mrs Hingane gave a comprehensive presentation on the upstream and downstream of the WTP. She pointed out the dire need of pure water world over and how to minimise whenever possible, the use of water. Treat the river water and use it for domestic applications. Students were shown the actual working of plant in small batches. Students interacted with the personnel of the plant. Finally, Dr P N Dange, Visit coordinator gave vote of thanks.

Orientation Program
The AIChE Student Chapter, AISSMS COE & the Department of Chemical Engineering organized a two-day Orientation Program on Motivational topics for SE, TE and BE Chemical Engineering students on 29th& 30th July 2020. The inauguration of the program was done on the first day. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr. P. N. Dange, Head, Chemical Engineering, Dr. K. R. Jethani, Faculty Coordinator of the Orientation Progaram, all faculty members, students and Ms. Sapna Dahiwal who was the expert speaker for the first session.

AIChE Student Chapter, AISSMS COE, Pune organized a national Webinar on the topic “Piping Design Engineering and Construction’ on July 04, 2020. Mr Pramod Deshmukh, Head, CITP, Asian Academy of Professional Training, Pune was the invite speaker. More than 50 students participated in the event (Student Co-ordinator : Riteshkumar Kolhapure and Mr. Abhishek Kumbharde, Faculty Co-ordinator and Advisor: Dr. P. N. Dange).

AIChE Student Chapter,AISSMS COE , Pune organized a national Webinar on the topic ‘Process Intensification’ under on June 23, 2020. Dr. Makrand Pimpalpure, Flow Chemistry Consultant and Founder, Makspeed Technologies, Pune was invited speaker for the program. About 70 students participated in the virtual event (Student Co-ordinator: Faculty Co-ordinator: Dr. P. N. Dange, AIChE Student Chapter Advisor).

AIChE Student Chapter of AISSMS COE Pune, organized a Ludo king competition during June 16-17, 2020. About 40 students participated in the prized competition (Student Co-ordinator: Mr Satyam Patil and Mr. Niranjan Deochake, Faculty Advisor: Dr. P. N. Dange).

AIChE Student Chapter, Department of Chemical Engineering, AISSMS College of Engineering Pune distributed food packets to poor and needy people in a village Anavadi, Taluka Wai, and District Satara on May 10, 2020. Mr Pranav Pawar, committee member handed over these food packets to distressed people of the village on behalf of the Student Chapter. In all, 27 families in adversity were benefitted in this time of crisis caused by ongoing deadly COVID-19 pandemic. This move was greatly lauded by the village administration who thanked AIChE Student Chapter and AISSMS COE, Pune for this noble cause. A poster competition organized online by AIChE Student Chapter, AISSMS COE, Pune between 29th May 2020-3rd June 2020. The theme for the competition was “Protecting the Environment for Sustainable Future”. Ms. Khushali Ekbote from Second Year Civil Engineering, AISSMS COE, Pune won he first prize (Student Co-ordinator: Shivani Ninal and Ms. Dikshita Mehta, Faculty Advisor: Dr. P. N. Dange).

AIChE Student Chapter, Chemical Engineering Department, AISSMS COE, Pune organized a quiz competition, QUIZ@QUARANTINE on May 12-13, 2020. Quiz comprised multiple choice questions on physical, Chemistry and Mathematics. More than 350 students across India and a couple of participants from abroad registered for the quiz. (Student Co-ordinators: Ms. Manali Kulkarni, Ms. Siddhi Pedamkar, Devendra More and Shivani Ninal, Faculty advisor Dr. P. N. Dange).

Department of Chemical Engineering, AISSMS College of Engineering Pune was granted a highly prestigious Student Chapter by American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) in May 2020. Committee of twelve Students led by Ms Manali Kulkarni, TE Chemical Engineering Student assumed duties to handle Activities of this Chapter. Dr P N Dange, Head, Department of Chemical Engineering undertook the role of faculty advisor for the Student Chapter.

AIChE Student Chapter, AISSMS COE Pune organized online international webinar on the topic ‘Job Opportunities in Japan’. Invited speakers for the webinar were Mr. Chandrakant Chougule, Director, Wai Guo Language Institute, Pune and Mr. Takutaro Kimura, Director, First Study Japanese Language School, Osaka. The event was conducted on ZOOM platform and was also streamed live on Facebook. The event witnessed over 400 registrations from all over India (Student Co-ordinators: Ms. Manali Kulkarni, Mr. Satyam Patil and Mr. Tejas Hire, Faculty co-ordinator: P. M. Warke).

Dikshita Mehta and Mr. Devendra More, second year Chemical Engineering Students got selected as the ESC Regional Liaison of Asia Pacific Region in the month of June 2020. They will co-ordinating 04 AIChE Student Chapters in China.

AIChE Student Chapter , Department of Chemical Engineering, AISSMS COE, Pune organized a webinar on the topic “Analytical Instruments, Gas Chromatography & HPLC” on July 25, 2020. Mr. Shrikant Takle, PhD (Material Science), currently working as a Senior Manager at Thermax limited chemical division, Bhosari, Pune was the speaker ( Student Co-ordinators: Ms. Siddhi Pedamkar, Ms. Bhumika Kakade and Mr. Mohit Rode, Faculty Co-ordinator: Mr R S Raut).

The AIChE Student Chapter, AISSMS College of Engineering Pune organized quiz competition on Chemical Process Technology (CPT). This competition started on June 6, 2020 and was closed on June 9, 2020(Student Co-ordinator: Ms. Manali Kulkarni, AIChE Chapter President, Faculty Co-ordinator: Dr. M. Y. Naniwadekar).

A team of AIChE Student Chapter, AISSMS COE Pune, organized video conference on AIChE Orientation for the First Year students on June 17, 2020. Ms Manali Kulkarni, President of the Chapter introduced about various aspects of AIChE to participating Chemical Engineering students. She talked about the Chapter benefits, committee structure and role of its members along with variety of technical and social events (Co-ordinator: Team AIChE Student Chapter).

AIChE Student Chapter, AISSMs COE Pune organized ‘Orientation Program’ on July 11, 2020 for the new members so that they get to know more about the overall structure of the chapter. Ms. Manali Kulkarni, President, AIChE Student Chapter started with an introductory speech. After that our Faculty Advisor and Head of the Chemical Department Dr. P. N. Dange addressed all the members (Student Co-ordinator: Miss Manali Kulkarni, Faculty advisor: Dr P N Dange).

AIChE Student Chapter of the Department of Chemical Engineering at AISSMS COE, PUNE conducted an online quiz on Chemical Reaction Engineering-I (CRE-I) between 30 May and 2 June 2020. 142 participants across India appeared for an online quiz. More than 100 participants successfully completed the quiz (Student Co-ordinator: Mr. A. B. Kumbharde, Faculty Co-ordinator: Dr. K. R. Jethani).

AIChE Student Chapter, Department of Chemical Engineering, AISSMS College of Engineering, Pune-01 organised a webinar on the topic ‘Safety Devices for Process Equipment’ on June 6, 2020. Mr. Avishek Mukherjee, B. Tech. Chemical Technology, Principal Process Engineer, Wood PLC, England, was the invited speaker for the webinar (Student Co-ordinators: Ms. Dimpal Kadu and Ms. Yashoda Patil Faculty co-ordinator: Mrs. K. AIChE Student Chapter, AISSMS COE Pune members spread the awareness among the people by disseminating a message through the online poster in the month of April 2020 to counter Covid-19 pandemic. The message conveyed more precautions to be taken by people and prevent themselves from getting out in this situation with the slogan Stay home, Stay safe! (Student co-ordinator: Team AIChE Student Chapter).
