
Prof. (Dr.) D. Y. Dhande is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and currently serves as the Dean (Academics) at AISSMS College of Engineering, Pune. With over 26 years of academic experience, he provides strategic leadership in academic planning, governance, quality assurance, and curriculum development, ensuring excellence across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes.
As Dean (Academics), he leads the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of academic policies, teaching-learning processes, examination reforms, and Outcome-Based Education (OBE) practices. He has played a key role in implementing NEP 2020, developing the autonomous Second Year to Final Year B.Tech. curricula, and planning the M.Tech. curricula aligned with emerging technologies, industry requirements, and research trends. He also oversees academic planning, digital academic systems, laboratory enhancement, and initiatives that promote innovation, interdisciplinary learning, and industry-academia collaboration.
Prof. Dhande has previously served as Institute Academic Research Coordinator, NAAC Coordinator, Central NBA Criteria-5 Coordinator, and has been an active member of the IQAC, R&D Cell, Academic Council, and curriculum development committees at both institute as well as university levels. He has also served as Assistant Director of the SPPU PG Central Assessment Program, Chairman, Paper Setter, Moderator, and External Examiner for UG, PG, and Ph.D. programmes. His research interests include Computational Fluid Dynamics, Finite Element Analysis, Tribology, Biofuels, and Artificial Intelligence applications in Mechanical Engineering. He has published over 40+ research papers in reputed peer-reviewed journals and serves as a reviewer for journals published by ASME, Springer Nature, Elsevier, and Sage Publications.
