The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) at AISSMS College of Engineering, Pune was established in 2024 with a mission to develop skilled professionals capable of innovating and leading in the rapidly evolving fields of AI and machine learning.

The department offers a comprehensive undergraduate program focused on building a strong foundation in computer science principles, while also providing in-depth knowledge and practical experience in areas such as machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and data science.

Our teaching approach blends theoretical learning with hands-on practice, project-based learning, and industry-oriented training. Students engage in real-world problem solving through capstone projects, research initiatives, and internships, fostering innovation and critical thinking.

The department is supported by qualified and experienced faculty, modern infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, and an active ecosystem of student clubs, industry interactions, and co-curricular activities. We strive to create an environment that encourages academic excellence, ethical values, leadership, and a spirit of inquiry.

Short-Term Goals (1–3 Years)

  • Curriculum Enhancement: Integrate cutting-edge AI/ML topics such as Generative AI, Edge AI, and Responsible AI into the curriculum.
  • Faculty Development: Organize workshops and FDPs on emerging AI/ML technologies and tools.
  • Student Skill Development: Encourage participation in competitions and certification programs.
  • Industry Collaboration: Establish at least 2 MoUs with AI-focused companies for internships, projects, and expert lectures.
  • Laboratory Upgrade: Equip labs with high-performance computing infrastructure and AI development platforms.
  • Community Engagement: Launch AI awareness and training programs for local schools or social impact sectors.

Long-Term Goals (4–10 Years)

  • Center of Excellence: Establish a recognized Research and Innovation Center in AI & ML.
  • Global Collaborations: Partner with international universities and research labs for student/faculty exchange and joint research.
  • Patents and Publications: Encourage at least 10 quality research publications and 2 patent filings per year.
  • Entrepreneurship & Startups: Incubate AI-based startups through dedicated support and innovation ecosystems.
  • Interdisciplinary Programs: Launch interdisciplinary programs combining AI with domains like healthcare, agriculture, robotics, or fintech.
